Miss Haiti Universe Christie Desir’s national costume was designed by Haitian designer Maelle Figaro David. Her hat was designed by Ti Chapo. Christie Desir is an Haitian-American beauty pageant who was crowned as Miss Haiti Universe in 2014 and competed at Miss Universe 2014 on Sunday January 25th in the United States.
Christie Desir left her Branded Content & Partnership career at Interscope Records to travel back to her native land and follow her dream. She started her own foundation which focuses on continuing education, providing hygiene products and bright futures for adolescent girls. Following in her father’s footsteps, her plan is to build hotels where individuals can connect with self, culture, nature and captivate meaningful life moments.
She believes that her remarkable internship with Sean “Diddy” Combs and experience working in marketing will help her in rebuilding Haiti’s image. Her goal is to highlight her country’s strengths and comparative advantages by building hotels and revitalize the tourist attractions. She holds a BBA in Marketing and a Minor in Fashion Styling. In her spare time she works on designs for her debut resort collection, which will be made and produced in Haiti. Her mission is to create more jobs and make a difference in her country.
