Wyclef Jean Explains How ‘The Carnival Vol. III’ Came Together

Haitian recording artist and producer Wyclef Jean takes WSJ’s Lee Hawkins into the studio for a behind-the-scenes look at his new album “The Carnival Vol. III: The Fall and Rise of a Refugee.” The two discuss immigration, will the Fugees get back together and his philosophy on music with a conscience.

If the Fugees gonna get back together, they gotta do it while I’m still swaggy

When asked if the Fugees will ever get back together, Wyclef said “I love the Fugees and I always give the same answer. At the end of the day, Rolling Stones, a lot of the Rock bands – if they got back together, I don’t see why they Fugees can’t get back together. But all I’m saying is if the Fugees gonna get back together, they gotta do it while I’m still young, while I’m still swaggy, while I still have that fresh little haircut where I still look like Sydney Poitier.”

“Carnival Vol. III: The Fall and Rise of a Refugee” is the eighth studio-album by Haitian singer-songwriter Wyclef Jean. It is due to be released on September 15, 2017. Watch the full video above.
