From lawsuit to citizenship dilemma, 21-year-old Naomie Osaka has battled a handful of off-court action since winning her second consecutive Grand Slam in January.
The Haitian-Japanese tennis superstar is being sued for $2 million by ex-coach Christophe Jean who claims he’s entitled to 20 percent of her earnings. He claims he was hired by Osaka’s father, Leonard Francois, who he says signed a contract promising him the money. Naomi has also been told by the Japanese government that by her 22nd birthday this October, Naomi must either give up her US citizenship or her Japanese citizenship before the 2020 Olympics that will be held in Tokyo.
